12 Apr MTN Launches Tier III Data Center in Ikoyi
MTN, Africa’s leading cellular telecommunications company, has just completed a Tier III Data center located at their Aromire office complex in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria.
The Tier III data center is a combination of the state of the art containerized and modular in-building solutions. This type of Data Center offers very high flexibity, scalability and compatibility. Added to this, the modular data center has high density and low PUE (Power Use Effectiveness) which depicts how efficiently the data center uses energy.
The Tier classification system is widely accepted as the standardized methodology used in determining the functionality, capacity, availability and performance of Data Centres. Hence, a Tier III data center with its redundant and always active power supply (with minimal planned and unplanned downtime), guarantees 99.982 percent availability.
The Data Center was designed and constructed by Huawei collaborating with Interkel Limited as turnkey construction partners.
The project which commenced late last year is scheduled to be commissioned in March 2019.
This further increases MTN’s data center footprint in Africa
